I'm Jonathan Hop and I'm a graduate of the University of Michigan with a degree in Japanese studies. I studied for 1 year at the Yu Changhyuk 9p dojo in Migeum, South Korea. I started playing Go about six years ago when a friend of mine showed me the anime "Hikaru no Go". I was hooked immediately and started playing online and in person as much as I could. Like most westerners I studied the game records of professional players and did go problems I found on the internet to get better. Currently I am a currently 4 dan on Tygem, and I rarely if ever play on KGS anymore (my nickname is yithril200 and yithril respectively). I like teaching Go and introducing as many people to the game as I can, that way, I have more people to play with!
